Nissan Cube
Top Gear has described the New Nissan Cube as one of those marmite cars - you will either Love it or Hate it.
Nissan Cube is not just a car it is a mobile device, according to Nissan. It is an ultra lounge, they say for hanging out with friends. Which is probably referring to the incredible amounts of space inside this car, The 60/40 split seatbacks recline, and the seat itself also slides fore and aft, allowing for increased legroom or rear cargo space depending on what you need at any given time.
Rear passengers enjoy an equally relaxing in that the rear bench seat also reclines and slides back and forth.
Cargo space behind those seats is recessed (like a minivan, actually), and you can fold down the seat-backs if you need more room than that. The wisdom of the Cube is the wisdom of all cubes: Efficiency is a beautiful thing. However, the Cube seems small on the outside; it's easy to maneuver, easy to park, a great city runaround and a bit go-kartish in traffic.
Powering the front-wheel-drive Cube is a 1.8 liter four-cylinder engine that produces 122 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque. The standard transmission on the base Cube and Cube S is a six-speed manual. Power wise, the 1.8L and the power to weight ratio will be nice.
It really does tick all the boxes on a practical level; however it also ticks the Quirky appearance box which isn't everyone's cup of tea, but manufacturers think that many of us out there are looking for the more unusual shaped car.
For Example there is the new 2010 Kia Soul, which has a boxy but slightly more conventional appearance that many might prefer to the Cube's especially quirky look. Scion sort of kicked it off, and now Kia has a similar car they are promoting, and of course there's the cube. I guess their appeal is as an alternative to a regular compact car, since they are a little more funkier or should I say "out of the box"? Scion busted down the preconception of exactly how boxy an econobox could be with the original Scion xB a few years ago. Now Nissan is unleashing its own boxy economy car, the aptly named Cube; it's rounded corners on each of the four side windows, short windows in the front doors and longer windows in the rear give the Cube a unique appearance.
The cube 1.8 SL adds standard CVT, 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, auto on/off headlights, Automatic Temperature Control, Interface System for iPod, six speakers and more. The uniquely equipped cube 1.8 Krom includes an exclusive integrated body design, Krom 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, sporty interior treatment, Rockford Fosgate subwoofer, Xtronic CVT and much more. This is the sort of refinement that adds to the vision of a mobile device or lounge, Nissan have simplified on the exterior and concentrated on giving the interior added luxuries and gadgets.
Now ask yourself - do you Love it or Hate it?
